Lauren Beckham's Training Outline

Tomorrow is June 29th and marks the beginning of the season for me. As of tomorrow my workouts will be amped up to twice daily. Depending on the day, it will be either double weight training, or cardio in the morning and weight training in the evening.

My goal is to obtain a fuller looking physique, and to avoid the overly lean look (which I have more of a tendency toward.) My philosophy is if you want to gain the muscle, you need to challenge your body with the more difficult compound exercises and explosive tempos. That is exactly what I am doing right now with butt to the ground explosive squats, and wind sprints. Ultimately variety is what is going to keep the gains consistent. Although the key is to stick to the "type" of training that is going to get the results you're after. Confuse the muscle with in that realm or type of training, not by switching from anaerobic to aerobic.

Another goal is to bring up those lagging body parts, which is something every competitor faces. my focus has been on my hamstrings for the longest time, and I've seen the most improvement by training like a sprinter (go figure.) But if you find something that is a little unique and has worked for you e-mail it to me, and I will post it if I think it sounds good and will work. As far as the rest of my physique, my shoulders need extra attention, as well as my glute/ham tie-in. These body parts are truly the key to figure. The judges seek that body contour of the flared lats, fuller shoulder caps, flowing down in to a widdled waist, and then flaring back out in to the quads. Everything needs to be well proportioned and balanced. This is why I no longer work my abs, and sometimes a competitor may need to do things like that in order to bring balance to their physique. But as for my weaknesses I try to hit those as often as possible.

I have 3 months to make the much needed improvements. I am focused and ready to tear it up! I'll keep you all posted on my daily workout routines and cardio sessions, as well as my gains. I would love feedback and support from all of you fans out there. Until next time, happy training!
